University of Iowa Makes Hard Choices,

University of Minnesota Dean

Denigrates Iowa's Efforts?

Iowa has demonstrated that they can make tough choices.

They have also instituted a new conflict of interest policy in about nine months while the University of Minnesota has dithered for more than three years.

Apparently, Dean Finnegan doesn't think much of Iowa's efforts:

Minutes*

Faculty Consultative Committee

Thursday, February 18, 2010

What not to do was shown by the University of Iowa. The University of Minnesota just reviewed graduate education and did a good job. At Iowa they're cutting programs on the basis of task force recommendations, but it appears that none of the programs being cut were those of the task force members.
Dean Finnegan, Public Health

Tacky, tacky...

I wonder what the Committee on Institutional Cooperation would think of this?

Later in the minutes:

Following the departure of Deans Delaney and Finnegan, it was noted that while one might denigrate Iowa's process, they are doing what needs to be done.

Loose lips sink ships.

Cheap shots are not free, Dean Finnegan.
