Real Tuition Increase at

the University of Minnesota Next Year

12.5%

At the U -- with a 5 percent cap and all other things equal -- a returning resident undergrad could see a double-digit percentage increase.

That's because a stimulus-backed scholarship of $744 per student this school year will disappear. Without that, and with a 5 percent increase, undergrads from Minnesota would pay $11,648 next year -- a total of 12.5 percent more.

This is the dirty little secret that the Morrill Hall Gang has been hiding during discussion of "moderate" tuition increases.

Goodbye President Bruininks!
