T-PAW pulls the plug (confirmed)

(It wouldn't look good for a national GOP presidential candidate to lose a re-election contest for governor.)

St. Paul, Minn. — Gov. Tim Pawlenty is expected to announce today that he will not run for a third term.

Pawlenty has scheduled a 2 p.m. news conference to talk about his future plans, and sources at the Capitol with knowledge of the governor's plans have told Minnesota Public Radio News that Pawlenty will announce he will not seek re-election next year.

Pawlenty was first elected in 2002 and narrowly won reelection in 2006.

When asked at the news conference about his plans for running for president, Pawlenty replied that his focus in the 19 months he has left in office was going to be doing his job as governor.

[Yah, fer sure...

Just as it has been for the last two years.]

So, when will you announce your candidacy, Mr. Bonzo?

Mr. B. said...

I am not a candidate.

Apparently that makes me in the minority in this state...
